It’s not like I keep cards or valentines often, or at least for a long time
Those I do save are sometimes preserved out of guilt
Knowing I’ll feel ungrateful if I don’t hold onto them for at least a short period of time
But your valentine, I not only kept it, I treasured it
It felt like material proof that you cared for me
It gave me hope that the scales would shift from the side of friends to that of lovers

Your valentine arrived unexpected and was unrequited
Just as my feelings for you were unreciprocated

Unlike all others, I treasured your valentine for 7 months
Unlike all others, I tore your valentine to pieces today
It fell to the floor and I threw it away
Because I've grown tired of entertaining this vain hope

  • Two pretty amazing things happened yesterday. First, the new Misery Signals cd arrived at my house. I listened to it all the way through once with the cd booklet in hand, following along with all the lyrics. It's a great album and I'm definetely going to be spending some quality time with this baby.

The second great thing that happened yesterday was that I saw the opening screening of Snakes on a Plane. And my oh my, what an experience that was! I didn't really get into the hype over this movie as much as some people, but even if I had hyped the crap out of this movie I still would not have felt let down. Snakes on a Plane delivered in every area that it was expected to come through in. The plot is pretty ridiculous, yet it's made to work relatively well in the movie. There was more gratuitous violence than I expected; so to my pleasent surprise there is some genuine gore in this movie. I think Snakes on a Plane is best described as a beefed up Chuck Norris type action flick. It exagerates many of the things that have made people love Chuck Norris and other cheesy action heroes of the 80's and 90's. But instead of Chuck it involves Samuel L. Jackson. And although the movie is kinda bad in some ways (albeit intentionally so) it actually has some decent writing, acting, character development, and special effects. Basically you need to see this movie, and don't be afraid or ashamed to get into the experience, it'll make it even more enjoyable.

  • I started my new job today! I woke up at 3:30am to be at work at 4:30am. I'm a camera operator for the 5am and 6am morning news broadcasts on WICD-TV Channel 15 ABC. It's gonna take some getting used to being up that early and remembering how to switch between the different camera shots, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon. My co-workers were extremely welcoming and nice, so I think I'm really gonna enjoy working with them all. Real world here I come!
